Individual Therapy

My passion is working with clients from unique backgrounds and/or experiences, who often contact me because they want to work on or through complex trauma, such as oppression based and/or inter-generational trauma, addiction(s), depression, grief, and loss. Modalities used addresses the concerns of those whose race, ethnicity, gender identification, income, disability/accessability, and other social factors which often go unrecognized/disavowed. Issues that arise for minority groups, such as oppression, racism, and marginalization, are relevant, recognized, validated, safely contained, and honored by me in our co-created space.
Interracial Couples/Partnership Therapy

Interracial couple’s issues and concerns are incredibly complex. My therapeutic approach is to work together to break down issues and integrate factors such as race relations, ethnic identity, oppression, immigration, and related intersecting identities. It is incredibly important to re-frame differences in such a way that creates sound allied partnership, resulting in mutual support, tenderness, and compassion. For couples who have children or those who plan on extending their family, exploration and understanding of blended families is integral to the process work which we dive into, together.
Children & Teens (10-18)

Every teen is unique in their expression(s), identity formation, ideologies, needs, and struggles. Teen therapy offers a wealth of benefits and provides the opportunity for expression in a safe and trusted space, which aids in making sense of experiences and emotions, then leading to improved relationships with Self and others and the ability to identify make positive healthy decisions. I am experienced in working with teens of all backgrounds and experiences, from the shyest to the most rebellious. My work with teens includes identity and self-expression, creative arts, connection to/with self and others, anxiety, depression, grief work and healing, stress reduction, distress tolerance, emotion management and self-regulation, body confidence and positivity, appropriate self-expression, ecological stress and future fears, technology and academic pressure, social expectations, and more.
Impostor Syndrome

Impostor Syndrome is a pervasive feeling of self-doubt, insecurity, or fraudulence despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Are you a person of color in a white collar industry? Are you female identified struggling in a male dominated workplace? Are you forced to deal with stereotypes in the workplace? Do you struggle to find or understand your value in the place and space you work because of your race or place in the socio-political or racial/gender hierarchy? Are you a person of color in higher education? Are you a first generation college student questioning or doubting your accomplishments and goals? Together we can explore and process challenges and fears.
Family Trauma/Genogram Work

Just as Multiple generations of families pass down beautiful stories of cultural and ethnic/racial tradition and knowledge to be celebrated, they can also transmit trauma throughout the years, unhealthy ways of thinking and behaving, and/or genetic predisposition to addiction or depression. Together we can explore and process intergenerational histories [his/her/they-stories] and experiences, and work radically to heal and empower through narrative, the arts, and charts. Patterns that are usually hard to decipher seem to jump out once they've been verbally explored and/or mapped on paper. Genogram work and artistic expression provide a way to examine these patterns & experiences.
Addiction/Harm Reduction

Harm reduction involves practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing negative consequences associated with drug/substance and alcohol use. Harm reduction incorporates a spectrum of strategies from safer use, to managed use, to abstinence to meet one where they are at, in the here and now, addressing conditions of use along with the use itself. Together we can dive into compassionate process work.

Sexual Expression & Alt Lifestyles

It is important to find a therapist who is understanding and supportive of your lifestyle, with training and an awareness of the diversity and range of sexual expression, who will affirm that sexual diversity is a natural expression of the human experience. I am committed to expanding positive understandings of the full range of sexual expression and to counteracting the historical and present day harm done by pathologizing diagnoses, stigma, and invisibility. Areas of focus often include navigating through the struggles of internalized oppression, shame, discrimination, and coming out to friends, family, and/or a non kink inclined partner. I welcome Clients who engage in consensual sexual behaviors, from polyamory to fetishism and kink.
